Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) is about to hit Sydney, transforming gallery and performance space Carriageworks, in Eveleigh, into hub of style from May 15 until May 19.
Sydney’s MBFWA has been the premier fashion event of the year since it was launched in 1996, drawing some of the biggest names in fashion from around the world.
Gemma Ward, Linda Evangelista, Kristy Hinze and Dita von Teese have all walked or attended the runways of Australia’s premier designers.
For 2016, some of Australia’s most talented designers will be showing previews of their coming collections, including exclusive Resort ranges.
Romance Was Born, alice mcCALL, Kate Sylvester, Jayson Brunsdon and Ellery are some of the local designers that will be on show.
One of the biggest announcements of the season was the reveal that It Girl, Bella Hadid, would be walking for Misha Colletion’s resort ’17 and the brand’s latest line Misha Gold.
Hadid, sister of Gigi and daughter to Real Housewife Yolanda Foster, has taken the modeling world by storm and recently signed by agency powerhouse IMG.
Closing the event will be the Spring/Summer collection New York-based Oscar de la Renta, with brand evp Eliza Bolen — the late Oscar de la Renta’s stepdaughter — will act as the company’s Sydney face.
This year, an additional show running from May 15 until May 20 will showcase Australia’s unique Resort collections from brands such as Dion Lee, Rebecca Vallance, Emma Mulholland and Christopher Esber.
This is Australia’s premier fashion event, transforming Sydney into a whirlwind of satin, silk and sequins and if you are someone who is someone, we highly recommend attending one of the many VIP events.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia will be held at Carriageworks in Eveleigh from May 15 until May 19.
Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Resort will run from May 15 until May 20.
