Flickerfest

Enjoy a balmy summer evening with a selection of the world’s best short films on Bondi Beach.

The greatest short film festival, Flickerfest, is back showing at Bondi Pavilion starting on January 12 and running until January 21.

Now in its 27th year, Flickerfest has come a long way from the small, community-driven film night at Balmain High School back in 1991. Since then, the event has grown to become Australia’s leading Academy® accredited and BAFTA recognised competitive Australian & International Short Film Festival with 1000’s of entries coming from filmmakers across the globe.

And this year, some of the most renowned artists have taken part in the line-up to create one of the most diverse and exciting Flickerfests yet.

On opening night alone, you can watch the incredible and absurdist short film An Imagined Conversation: Kanye West and Stephen Hawking. Or the wonderfully humorous Martha the Monster.

Other highlights of the series include The Cannonball Woman, the splendidly dark Super Nice, and the terrifying Coat of Arms

Flickerfest is considered in international circles as the leading Australian competitive short film festival and increasingly filmmakers view it as one of the main festivals on the world circuit.

Of course, it’s not just the film but the setting – overlooking Bondi Beach, you’ll be hard pressed to find a more stunning location to host an outdoor movie night.

Seating is limited, and booking ahead is essential.

For more information, including movies showing and ticketing, head to the official Flickerfest website.

Flickerfest is showing at Bondi Beach from January 12 until January 21.
